Dev Blog #84 – Happy Turkey Day!

Greetings everyone!

I’ve got to be honest, the last week of traveling and moving has left me too exhausted to come up with some kind of clever intro, so, let’s just get into it!

Update 6.1.2 – Delayed

Let’s just rip this band-aide off now.

I tried, I really tried, but with the bombardment of “Real Life” I ultimately was not able to commit to the intended release date for Update 6.2.1. The good news is that I expect it to be out within the next week or so, hopefully no later than next Thursday and ideally earlier than that.

For those following along at home, I’ve successfully moved myself, my father, and three cats about 3,600km across the country, and this weekend we finished moving in to our temporary apartment. Next week my wife and kids will be arriving via plane, and at what we hope will be the end of December we’ll finally be cleared to move into our new home just down the street. What this means for me, and you, is that for the next month or so I’ll finally be able to relax and focus solely on writing!

As for the update itself, it’s coming along quite nicely and at this stage it’s only a matter of writing a handful of mini-scenes to round everything out. We’re definitely closing in on a release, and I don’t foresee any more setbacks for the foreseeable future! I’m also still expecting to have the 6.2.2 update, focusing on Diana, to be out before next year.

I’ll try to have an updated timeline out next week!

Loose Ends

Marketing Associates will have no doubt noticed a lack in activity concerning artwork previews, and I have a good reason for that!

My artist and I have just (like, hours ago) finalized the rework for the MC, including gender and genitalia functionality. Over the weeks, there’s been a lot of back and forth in terms of dialing in that design and I really didn’t want to share what would turn out to be a number of not-quite-rights before having the final design on hand. I’ll still be sharing the concept art, but not before showing what’s actually going to be in game. Now that I have that, Marketing Associates and Lab Technicians can expect their first look at the new MC model tomorrow! Everyone else will have to wait until the wardrobe article, as the new wardrobe system and the new MC design actually go hand-in-hand with each other.

Speaking of the wardrobe system, my hope is to have that article written up for some time next month. While the system itself, like everything else in the game, isn’t contingent on an accompanying visual, this is one area I’d like to have some images ready to go prior to showing it off. Definitely look forward to it!

With the holiday seasons rapidly encroaching, that’s going to wrap up today’s devblog. I know the lack of development over the last couple weeks has been frustrating, but I want to thank everyone for sticking with me through it. I think I can finally say I’m able to really sit back down and focus on development for the first time in a while, so as always, thank you all for your continued feedback and support!
