Dev Blog #101 – The Post and Present Update Update

Greetings everyone!

I don’t know about all of you, but the last couple weeks have been something of a whirlwind for me. Playing catch-up to get an update out on time all while fixing one thing and breaking ten more in the process. I’d considered skipping this week’s devblog while I finally take a minute to catch my breath, but the show must go on, right? Today’s devblog will be on the short side with a more substantial one coming later in the month. All that being said, let’s jump right in!

Update 3.3.0 – It Could Be Worse!

Sooooo… Yeah, Update 3.3.0 has gone off basically exactly as expected, and things are borked! Obviously, this only applies to backers at the moment who are currently playing the update, but backers are people who can read, too!

I’m taking in all the reported issues and addressing them as they’re made know. Specifically:

  • Ava night event triggering every night
  • Dakota’s webcam event not appearing
  • Strange TF behavior
  • Wonky random event rates
  • Various formatting issues

While these issues are annoying to be sure, the current intent is to have everything fixed for next week’s public release rather than releasing hotfixes until then. For now, please keep reporting any new issues so I can get as much taken care of before then as possible! As a remind, the public release for Update 3.3.0 will be next Thursday, July 16th. There will be some very brief downtime for the online version for all players as I refresh the online image packs. I expect this to only take 5-10 minutes or so.

Update 3.3.1 – The Pre-Update Update

So I wanted to briefly touch on this month’s update, which will basically be doing what 3.3.0 did, only with a laser focus on the home.

Essentially, I’ll be combing through the game’s earliest content and working to bring the dialogue, pacing, and quality up to today’s standards in anticipation for next’s month’s actual expansions to said content. While I’m not ready to dive in too deeply as to what these changes will entail, here’s a basic rundown on what you can expect:

  • Formatting updates on existing scenes, specifically living room and kitchen events
  • Removal of existing interactive scenes with Ava and Dakota in anticipation for more fleshed out replacements next month
  • With the above change will also finally come the retirement of the stamina system
  • Updating unlock requirements for various scenes and events
  • Updating aspects of the room exploration system
  • Adding option to allow players to change MC’s name

Again, this is mostly a preparation update for the big ones coming for the rest of the year. Still, players should notice a much smoother home experience that flows a little closer to more recent events added to the game. I’ll have more to say about all of this later in the month, but for now this should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect.

    You have all done a fantastic job and it seems to be getting better.
    Best game of its kind I’ve ever played. Versatile, addictive and very well written.

  2. Will you be asking the spellbooks game Creator, naughty games, to release a version on gamcore or is that something they have already considered and chose not to do
